We lost power last week for 48 hours! We knew our neighborhood was notorious for losing power... So it wasn't a total surprise when the lights went out Tuesday evening. What was surprising is the amount of time we spent in the dark. Lucky for us we have a fireplace that I had blazing that day because AB and I were already celebrating our first snow day! The first night wasn't too bad. We slept four deep (Sahara included) in our bed with three extra blankets. When we woke Wednesday morning we were COLD! Nick went into work and Annabelle and I went to Patti and Maria's house for most of the morning and afternoon. We then decided to get some more starter logs and get things ready for another possible night in our house without power. We were obviously hoping the power would come back on at some point. Our camp-in started out very fun. We had fireside grilled cheese sandwiches and smores... We made our beds by the fire with all of the blankets we own (which was a surprising amount when we pulled them all out.) Even falling asleep by the fire wasn't too bad. It wasn't until about 2am that I realized that it wasn't at ALL FUN ANYMORE. I can have consistently compared myself to a pioneer women. I was up every hour stoking the fire and adding logs to keep us warm... At 3:30 I had to go outside with a lantern to get more logs because I had burned through all we had inside. LOL What a night!!! We woke up even colder on Thursday. I got ready for school with the use of the lantern and then AB and I were off to Pickerington by 6:45. It was nice to be warm but we were both tired. Tired from our cold nights and tired of being COLD in our home. When we pulled up at 4:30 that afternoon and saw our porch light on... Annabelle and I went into pure celebration mode! It was such a relief. For the rest of the winter I am A. O.K. with lots more snow, but please NO MORE ICE!
