Would you believe this angel face had to go to bed early with no TV and no toys... It's true! AB found out what the word "punishment" means tonight. She purposely poured juice all over Nick's new massage/heat recliner. I walked into the family room and see her laying over the chair looking at me... I said "what are you doing?"
AB: "Nothing!" - hoping down onto the floor
Me: "Why is daddy's chair all wet?"
AB: "Nothing!"
Me: "Tell me the truth, please..."
AB: "I dumped it."
Me: "What did you dump?"
AB: " My juice"
Me: "Why would you dump your juice out on daddy's chair?"
AB: "Because I wanted to."
hmmm- This is the first real "on purpose" bad choice we've had to deal with. I told her to come over to me. I spoke very calmly... Telling AB that we can't just 'dump' our juice on things. Even IF we want to. I gave her a spanking and went to get towels so she could help me wipe up the mess. She seemed very upset with her spanking until, coming down the stairs I realized I didn't hear her crying at all... Why?- I'd left Scooby Doo on and she was quickly over her initial "punishment" watching old Scooby. I asked her to turn Scooby off (which was worse than the spanking ever could have been) and we sat down to eat dinner. We discussed her 'bad choice' and that tomorrow was a new day and a new chance to make some better choices, but tonight she would be punished for dumping juice on Daddy's chair. She informed me that "ishment is not fun for AB at ALL!!" Daddy came home and she apologized. He took her up for a bath and bed. :-(
Punishment is WAY worse for Mommies and Daddies!
Trust us AB...when you are bigger and can read all about this you may still not believe this is true... You may have to be a Mommy yourself before you understand completely. Just always remember that Mommy and Daddy have a very important job to help you become all that you can be... Sometimes this will involve a punishment or should I say "ishment" or two.
Just remember we LOVE you- even when you make a bad choice.
